例題：文章を読み、(Q1)から(Q5)の問いに対する適切な選択肢を答えましょう。
Animal Bridges
In many countries, highways and railways cut through forests and natural areas where wild animals live. When animals try to cross these roads, they sometimes get hit by cars. This can be dangerous not only for the animals but also for drivers. To solve this problem, some countries have started building special structures called “animal bridges.” These bridges allow animals to cross safely over busy roads. They are usually covered with soil, grass, and trees so that animals feel like they are still in their natural environment. As a result, animals can cross roads with less danger.
Animal bridges are carefully designed for the animals that live in each area. ① 段落の役割を意識して読む
長文では、段落ごとに役割があります。
第1段落：テーマ・背景の説明
第2段落：方法・理由・具体例
第3段落：利点・影響・新しい発見
第4段落：問題点・課題・まとめ
この流れを意識すると、文章全体の構造が理解しやすくなります。
② キーワードだけでなく「言い換え」に注意する
長文問題では、本文と同じ単語がそのまま選択肢に出ることは少ないです。
多くの場合、意味が似ている表現（パラフレーズ）で書かれています。
例
◆ protect animals → keep animals safe
◆ become popular → attract many visitors
単語ではなく、意味が同じかどうかを意識して読みましょう。
③ 理由と結果の関係を確認する
準2級プラスでは、理由（cause）と結果（result）を理解することが重要です。
特に次の語に注意しましょう。
● because
● so
● therefore
● as a result
● this helps 〜
「なぜそれが起こったのか」「その結果どうなったのか」
この関係を理解すると、設問に答えやすくなります。
④ 具体例と筆者の主張を区別する
文章では、
具体例（example）と筆者が伝えたいこと（main idea）が分かれていることが多いです。
例えば、
● 研究の説明
● 実験の結果
● ある町の例
などは具体例であることが多く、そのあとに筆者の考えや重要な結論が書かれます。
⑤ 最後の問題は文章全体のまとめを考える
最後の設問は、文章全体の内容を聞く問題です。
この問題では、
● 一部の段落だけの内容
● 細かすぎる情報
ではなく、文章全体から言えることを選ぶことが大切です。
長文読解の効率重視版 解き方
効率重視の解き方
前提：英検の長文は“段落ごとに答えがある”
英検の長文は段落と設問が対応してることがほとんどです。
Q1 → 第1段落
Q2 → 第2段落
Q3 → 第3段落
Q4 → 第4段落
Q5 → 全体のまとめ
つまり、Q1を解くために第3段落を読む必要はありません。
① まず「設問を先に読む」
長文を読む前に、必ず設問をチェックします。
設問の意味をしっかりと理解することが一番大切です。
おすすめは、一問ずつ読んで解くことです。全ての設問を先に読んでも、もちろん問題ありませんが設問の内容を忘れて読み返しては時間のロスになります。まずは一問ずつ読んで解答し、慣れてきたら数問一気に挑戦してみましょう。
② キーワードを目印に読む
長文には、答えのヒントになる“キーワード”が必ずあります。
設問に入っている単語は特にキーワードになりやすいです。
例えば、Why do people think car is bad for the environment?
であれば、car, bad, environmentがキーワードになるので本文から探しましょう。
ただし、似た意味で違う単語が使われていることも多いです。
car → vehicle / bad → harmful / environment → earth
このように、どれが選択肢と本文で使用されていて同じ表現かを見つけることが大事です。
③ 最後に「根拠の確認」をする
時間があれば見直しをしましょう。
選んだ選択肢が、どの文に対応しているかを確認します。
