How’s everything going? I’m writing because I have a small problem, and I want to ask for your advice. As you know, I joined the school music club this year. I like practicing, but I’ve never played in front of many people before. So, I’m worried I won’t be able to play well at the concert. Last week, our club leader told me that I should choose my song by this Friday. I’ve practiced two songs, but I can’t decide which one to play. One is easy, but not very exciting. The other is more difficult, but it sounds great when I play it well. You played the piano at the school festival last year, so I thought you might have some advice. 丁寧な基本の解き方

効率重視の解き方はこの後に載せていますので、ご参照ください。
① メールの基本情報をつかむ
誰から誰へ、どんな用件かを先に確認します。
From / To / Subject をざっと見ましょう。この３つはメールにおいてとても重要です。
From → 送った人、To → 受け取った人、Subject → 題名(用件)
この３つを先に確認することで内容が頭に入りやすくなります。さらに、人物について問われる問題も多いので答えを選びやすくなります。
② 1通目のメールで用件を確認する
1通目を読むとメールのやり取りをしている２人がどのような関係性かがわかります。
大事なのが、1文ずつ「誰が・いつ・どこで・何をしたか」を意識して読むことです。
そして、相手に言いたいこと・伝えたいことは何かを意識しながら読みます。
よくあるのが「近況報告、予定、友人・家族の話、問題の発生や相談」などです。
③ 2通目のメールで“返事の内容”を確認する
2通目では、1通目の内容に対する返事が書かれています。
「リアクション、過去の思い出、予定の調整できる／できないの理由」などが頻出です。
→ 1通目とのつながり を意識して読むと理解が深まります。
④ 質問を読み、本文の“答えの場所”を探す
必ず本文のどこかに答えが書いてあります。質問は疑問詞をしっかりと確認しましょう。
When（いつ）
What（何をした／する）
Who（誰が）
Why（なぜ）
How long / many（どのくらい）
Can / Will（できる？ / する？）など。
→ 質問のキーワードを本文から探すと答えの場所が見つかります。
⑤ 答えのとなる文章をマークする
正しいと思う選択肢が見つかればしっかりと確認することが大切です。
何となくで選んでしまうと、本当に文章の内容が理解できたのかがわかりません。
読む力を育てるためにも答えが書いている文章に印を付けましょう。
ちゃんと根拠を持って選んで正解なら完璧ですし、もし間違ったらならなぜ間違ったかを考えるのも重要です。読み間違えたのか、意味がきちんと理解できなかったのかなどを分析して正答率を上げていきましょう。

① From / To / Subjectの確認
これでメールの関係性と話題がわかります。
② 質問を読む
質問を先に読むことで何を探せばいいかが明確になります。
聞かれていることは「人、日時、特定の物」など何かをはっきりさせましょう。
③ キーワードを探す
質問で聞かれていることがはっきりしたらキーワードを探しましょう。
質問文には必ずキーワードが入っています。以下の例文を使って確認してみましょう。
例）What will Eric do next week?
この場合キーワードは Eric, next week です。 そのため、探す部分はEricが書いたメールなのでFrom Ericの方ですね。next weekと書いている文を見つければあとは、その文章から正しい選択肢を選びましょう。

②選択肢と本文で同じ表現（青色下線部）を探します。解答のヒントになります。
